This winter vacation seems to end like a total disaster, the plan of being a teaching assistant at the very beginning has been cancelled by emergency, later on, got no clue about time, thus writing blogs and reading have only been my recreation….

The book tells us a story of how a little girl Dorothy went back to her hometown when she was in another strange city. It was not a fortunate thing that on the way to the Emerald city, where Dorothy could seek help from the Wizard of Oz, she met with many friends, who owned different defects, which in some degree made their approaching journey unsecure, for many of the adventures and hardships they encounter along the way were new.

This fairy tale of adventures teaches me how important it is to have confidence in your self when the difficulties and obstacles approach. Everyone has his or her own shortcomings, and a sledge-hammering sort of merit, as well. It usually counts to find out your strong points when in accident. Scarecrow wants a brain, but actually, he is the quickest one to come up with an idea when emergencies come. Also, the lion, who wants courage, always masters up his courage to give a loud roar, and even to stand out to fight with other monsters when in danger. Manifestly, the biggest adversary are ourselves, someone said they cannot do this, so they can’t. However, if they say they can, just like the singers in American Idol show, they got the chance to prove themselves that they have something to show, even if some of them failed to.

Friendship, which theme I have acquisition of, have made Dorothy’s desire successfully accomplished. Without her friends, Scarecrow, Tim Man, Cowardly Lion, Dorothy would have never been back to Kansas. Maybe, she would be just like a tramp wandering in the tragic magic world. So, a friend is a second self, if you are in a desperate situation, a friend is more than a friend but a soul-mate, in whom you can confide. When talking about this, it reminds me of another thing I met with in the last semester. When I was busy preparing for my speech, I was quite nervous, the dazzling lights gave me the heebie-jeebies, for that was my first time to deliver a speech in such a spacious auditorium. However, when I step on to the stage, a loud cheer and shout overwhelmingly came to my ears, giving me great confidence, I know it came from my intimate and sincere friends, which put me at ease, although the result was not that satisfactory. It was not that all, many superior pioneers give me explicit instruction on improving public speaking, from which I also got touched. And, that was just one small part of life experience to prove how significant it is to cherish the pure friendship.

It is a fairy tale, we can think outside the box to find other interesting themes, though.
